How to play

What's the goal?

Clear every plank off the board before you run out of moves.

How do planks fall?

Each plank hangs on pegs through the holes at its two ends. A plank stays put while at least one of those end-holes still holds a peg. Move the last peg away and the plank drops off the board.

How do I move a peg?

Drag it to any empty hole, or tap the peg and then tap the hole. Every move counts against the level's move budget, shown at the top of the screen. A peg can't land on a hole that a plank is covering. The ghost peg is the exception.

What do the special pegs do?

• One-time pegs move once, then lock in place.
• Short-leash pegs only travel a couple of holes per move.
• Axis-locked pegs slide only along their row or column.
• Ghost pegs can be dropped onto holes covered by planks.
• Bombs are tapped, not dragged. They clear a radius, a row, a column or a cross, and chain bombs set off the bombs around them.
• Magnet pegs are tapped too, and yank loose any nearby plank that's hanging by a single peg.

What do the power-ups do?

• Extra Moves adds three moves to the budget.
• Undo takes back your last move.
• Hint shows the next few moves toward a solution.
• Hammer knocks the plank that covers the most holes off the board.
• Magnet pulls loose every plank that hangs by a single peg.

You earn power-ups from the daily bonus, daily challenge wins and win streaks.

Stars and par

What is par?

Every level is checked by a solver that finds the fewest moves needed to clear it. That number is the level's par.

How are stars awarded?

Clear the level in par moves (or fewer) for three stars. Stay within par plus half of the level's spare moves for two stars. Any other clear earns one star. Replay any level from the level map to improve your best.

What breaks a win streak?

Using a power-up resets your win streak. Clearing levels on your own skill builds it back up.

Price

Does PlankFall cost anything?

No. PlankFall is completely free. There is nothing to buy in the app and there are no ads.

Game Center

Do I need Game Center?

No. PlankFall plays fully without it. If your device is signed in to Game Center, the game reports achievements and posts scores to three leaderboards: total stars, daily streak and best win streak.

My achievements aren't showing up.

Check that you're signed in under Settings › Game Center on your iPhone or iPad, then open PlankFall again. Your progress is counted on your device, so achievements you already qualify for are reported the next time you play.

Progress and data

Where is my progress stored?

Progress is stored on your device and included in your normal device backups. Deleting the app deletes its progress. Settings › Reset progress clears it on purpose.
